Phoenix Equestrian Center, like the bird it is named after, arose from the ashes of a great fire. In 1978, Farmstead Stables was opened by the Carhart family. It featured a large outdoor arena with a remarkable footing, 23 indoor stalls and a 60' x 100' indoor. Over the next 13 years, 20 acres of pasture, a tack store, food stand, 20 additional stalls and a home were added. By 1991 Farmstead had trained many riders and horses. Many of these students have gone on to become professional and amateur adult riders that still show today. On September 6, 1991, every useable structure on the property was consumed by fire. Not only was the home, the barn, and other structures destroyed, but 21 horses and the three family pets were also lost. In the fall of 2001, we decided to rebuild a training and show facility. Ground preparation began on the 5th of December 2001. Soon after, over 200 yards of concrete, 3 miles of rebar, 200,000 pounds of steel became the foundation of the next generation of equestrian excellence. Our MissionTo provide the premiere equestrian training and show venue in the mid-west. With our 85' x 200' heated and cooled indoor show arena, attached 37 stall heated and cooled stable, and a 150' x 275' outdoor arena, with acres of parking, we plan to offer year round training and riding program to include monthly rated shows, monthly clinics and monthly schooling shows as well as a summer riding camp.
